Long County Jail Roster Overview

The official custody starting point is the Long County current inmate roster linked from the Long County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff is Craig Nobles, and the office lists its non-emergency number as (912) 545-2118 at 6 East Academy Street in Ludowici. The roster is the practical public index for people currently booked on Long County authority, including arrests by the Long County Sheriff's Office and related agencies.

The most important local fact is that Long County says it does not currently operate its own jail. The old jail was in the courthouse for many years, but after a fire in the early 1980s the courthouse jail was not restored. Long County now houses inmates in surrounding county jails. That is why roster entries may say the person is housed in Appling, McIntosh, Tattnall, Pierce, Wayne, or another county. Holds on Long County inmates still must be handled through the Long County Sheriff's Office, not only through the outside jail.

That state listing is useful as a directory reference, but the county's own custody details make clear that current Long County inmates may physically be held in other county facilities.

How to Use the Long County Inmate Roster

The roster supports a direct search and also gives browsing options when a name spelling is uncertain. Use the roster first for current custody, then use the housing notation and charge rows to decide whether the next contact should be the Long County Sheriff's Office, the Clerk of Superior Court, Probate/Magistrate Court, or the outside jail where the inmate is housed.

2. Use the Current Inmates tab for people presently listed, or the 24 Hours Arrests tab for recent bookings.
3. Enter a partial or full name in the optional inmate-name filter if the roster has multiple pages.
4. Review the person record for arrest date, arresting agency, total bond, charge rows, court, warrant number, and housing county.
5. Call Long County Sheriff's Office at (912) 545-2118 for Long County holds, bond questions, or custody authority questions; call the housing jail for its facility rules.

Roster Search Fields

The public roster is not a full criminal-history database. It is a custody listing with tabs, an optional name filter, search button, and pagination. It does not replace a court docket search through the Clerk of Superior Court or the State Court payment portal.

What an Inmate Profile Shows

Long County roster entries are detailed enough to connect a booking record to the court process. The inspected roster showed charge rows with warrant numbers, counts, O.C.G.A. statute numbers, offense descriptions, misdemeanor or felony classification, and court. It also showed total bond and a housing notation. The captured text did not show date of birth, age, eye color, hair color, booking number, release date, pod, medical flags, or a fixed court-date field.

Long County Housing Facilities

Because Long County does not run a county jail, facility contact cards must be read as possible housing channels, not as a single local jail address. The Sheriff's page lists Tattnall, Liberty, and Ware County jail details, while the live roster may show other housing counties. Confirm the current housing notation before sending mail, scheduling a visit, or depositing money.

Bond Process in Long County

The Sheriff's Office states that it does not set bonds. Bonds are set by Magistrate Court, State Court, or Superior Court. Accepted release paths include cash bond, in-county property bond, out-of-county property bond, and bail bond when bond is allowed. Cash bond requires cash, money order, or cashier's check at the Sheriff's Office, plus a separate non-refundable state required bond fee of $20.00 in exact cash because the office does not make change.

Property bonds require proper identification for all parties on the property and proof of property value. Out-of-county property bonds must be approved by sheriffs of both counties. No bonding company currently operates in Long County, but the Sheriff's page lists approved surrounding-county bondsmen: Smiley Bonding, Fussell Bonding, Gonzales Bonding, Tri-County Bonding, and Gordon's Bonding. Visitation, Mail, and Facility Rules

Long County does not publish one county visitation schedule, commissary vendor, phone vendor, video-visit provider, tablet program, kiosk location, or holiday visitation rule. Those rules depend on the outside jail where the roster says the inmate is housed. Use the roster first, then contact that housing facility for facility-specific rules.

State Prison, Sex Offender, and Federal Searches

County jail custody is not the same as a state prison record. Court Dates After Release

Released or bonded defendants should not rely on the jail roster for future court dates. The Sheriff's jail and bonding information directs court-date questions to the Clerk of Court at (912) 545-2123 and says address changes are the responsibility of the defendant or person on bond. Traffic and misdemeanor matters may be in State Court, while felony matters usually route to Superior Court.
